Furnished Unit Cleaning Guide
BEDROOM
- Vacuum carpeted floors
- Wash floors
With a wet cloth, please wipe:
- Closet shelves and drawers
- Walls
- Windows & ledges
- Heating vents
- All furniture, including bed, desk, couch, etc.
WASHROOM
- Sweep & wash floors
- Wipe mirror
- Clean toilet; inside & out
Remove soap scum/hair/standing water/dirt from:
- Sink & faucet
- Sink counter & cabinets
- Shower enclosure, shower head, control and faucet
- Bathtub & tiles
- Glass shower doors & tracks
COMMON KITCHEN/LIVING AREA
- Sweep & wash floor
- Remove all food/dishes/utensils
- Wipe inside & outside of cupboards/drawers, remove food residue, grease, dirt & dust
STOVE/OVEN
The stove must be cleaned thoroughly, inside & out:
- Lift & remove trays from stove top, place in hot soapy water, let soak, then scrub
- With a mask and rubber gloves, spray cool oven, burner drip trays and oven racks with oven cleaner (follow instructions/safety precautions on the oven cleaner label)
- Remove all cleaning residue
- Pull stove away from wall & clean all outside surfaces of the stove, hood fan, walls, floor, and counter tops. Remove all grease & food residue
FRIDGE
- Remove all food from fridge & freezer
- Wipe & clean all surfaces, racks, crisper bins, & door shelves (including door seal)
- Pull fridge away from the wall & clean all outside surfaces including the floor
REMEMBER
ALL ROOMMATES (if applicable) ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANING
- Remove ALL personal furniture and items from your unit
- Remove and dispose of all garbage, recycling and unwanted items
- Close your windows and turn off all the lights
- Lock your door when you leave your unit
- Hand in your room, unit and mail keys to the Residence Services Office at International House by noon on your move-out day. Failure to do so will result in an improper check out fee of $85.00 and possible lock change charges.
- Once your keys are returned to Residence Services upon move out you are not permitted to return to your room/unit.
