Apply for Residence

Hooray, you're interested in residence at the University of Alberta!

Please apply early for your best chance at being offered a space in residence. You should not wait for final admission to the University to apply to live in residence.

1. Apply to the University of Alberta
You need a Campus Computing ID (CCID) to access the online residence application form. You do not need to have admission to the U of A to apply for residence - you simply need to apply to UAlberta to receive your CCID. Your CCID will be activated in the Residence Services housing system 72-96 hours after you receive it which will allow you to apply for residence online. Our cancellation policy explains how to receive a refund of residence fees paid if final admission is not granted.

You can apply to live in Lister Centre, Résidence Saint-Jean or International House as early as November 1 of the year prior to your attending university. Applications to Pinecrest House, Tamarack House, HUB, East Campus Village, Graduate Residence, Newton Place and Michener Park are accepted all year long.

2. Choose your residence
You can select up to two accommodation types (within the same residence) on your residence application.

To ensure that you choose the best residence for you, please review our "Our Residences" section before submitting your application.

*NOTE: You are only allowed to apply for one residence for a given term.

3. Complete your application
The residence application is available online. Please follow the link at the bottom of this page to apply.

Payment of the application fee must be made at the time you submit your application. Credit card payments (VISA, MasterCard and American Express only) can be made online. Applications submitted without payment will not be processed.

NOTE: It is very important to provide complete and accurate information when applying. Applications that have not been filled out properly or do not contain accurate and complete information WILL NOT be processed. As a result, you may not get a space in residence.

4. Submitting your application
After you have completed and submitted your application, the application will be processed by the corresponding Residence Services Office.

Please note that the processing of your application does not indicate a guaranteed place in residence.

At a later date you will either:

  1. Be offered a space in the residence you requested  OR
  2. Be placed on a waiting list until room assignments are completed

If applying to East Campus Village or HUB, please note that these units are rented on a monthly basis, therefore some assignments may be completed as late as one month prior to your requested move-in date.

If you are applying for residence as a guaranteed housing applicant, you must submit your application by a specific deadline. Click here for guaranteed housing information and deadlines.
